Yacht prices do not include VAT (Value Added Tax) or APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) because these costs vary for each yacht and can even change during the season. VAT and other taxes are set before you leave and can differ from one country to another.

APA

The APA covers the yacht’s running costs during your trip and is a percentage of the charter fee. This percentage depends on the type of yacht, your travel route, and any specific requests you might have. Expenses covered by the APA include fuel for the yacht and its equipment, food, drinks, fees for using canals, harbors, local taxes, and marina charges. The exact amount of the APA can change based on how many people are on board, the type of yacht, and how long the charter lasts. Usually, you pay from 20% to 40% of the total charter costs as a down payment for the APA before your trip starts. This amount covers getting your yacht ready with fuel and supplies based on your preferences. You can ask for an updated summary of expenses anytime during your charter. If you are close to using up the pre-paid APA funds, the Captain will let you know, and you’ll need to provide more money. At the end of your charter, the Captain will give you a detailed account of all expenses for your review.

Its main purpose is to simplify payments onboard. The captain has funds at his disposal to operate the superyacht. That way, he doesn’t have to bother you for every payment he has to make.

SETTLEMENT

All outstanding bills are settled in cash before final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining credit at the end of your charter will be reimbursed to you in full. The advance provisioning allowance is used to pay variable expenses that arise during your yacht charter. Since it is payable before the start of your holidays, the APA is an estimation. If you did not spend your APA fully, the captain returns the remaining funds to you. If you spent more than your APA, you will have to cover the missing part.
